A free, private alternative to OneTab and Toby
Updated 2026-10-13
Tabulary is a free, private tab manager for Chrome, Edge, Brave and Firefox. If your tabs live in OneTab, Toby or a heap of bookmark folders, you can bring all of them across in a couple of minutes, without an account.
What you get
- Three levels, and only three: boards hold collections, collections hold tabs. Add tags on top.
- One-click saving of the tab you are on, the whole window, or a few ticked tabs, from the toolbar popup or the side panel.
- Instant search across everything you have saved, also from the address bar (type tt and a space).
- Sessions with smart restore, a Review queue for tabs you have not decided about, Live Collections that gather tabs by rule, and Find duplicates.
- A start page of your own on the new tab: shortcuts, a clock, one search box and your collections.
- No account needed. Your library stays on your device; optional backup goes to your own Google Drive, never to a server of ours.
- Free, with no tiers or limits, and you can export everything to a file at any time.

Moving from OneTab
- In OneTab, choose Export URLs and copy the whole list.
- In Tabulary, open Settings → Import (or press Import in the library toolbar) and choose Paste links.
- Paste, then press Preview. Each OneTab group becomes a collection.
- Deselect anything you do not want and press Import selected.
Moving from Toby
- In Toby, export your data as a
.jsonfile. - In Tabulary, open Settings → Import and choose Import a file…, then pick that file.
- Check the preview: reorder the incoming boards and deselect any collection you do not want.
- Press Import selected. Anything unreadable is counted and reported, never silently dropped.
Moving from browser bookmarks
Choose Import browser bookmarks. Your browser asks once whether Tabulary may read bookmarks; nothing is read before you start and nothing is written back. Bookmark areas become boards and nested folders become collections, with each site’s icon.
Any other list of links
Paste links accepts one link per line, url | title lines or Markdown links, or a .txt file. Lines that are not links are skipped and counted.
Every import is read, then preview, then commit: nothing touches your library until you confirm. The full details are in the user guide.
Troubleshooting
Import failed or skipped entries? Keep your original export, use the matching JSON or Paste links route, and inspect the preview before confirming. Cancel if it looks wrong. Confirm a saved link opens before deleting anything from your previous tool.

Questions
Is Tabulary a good OneTab alternative?
If you want saved tabs organized into boards and collections, searchable, and restorable as sessions, yes. It imports OneTab’s Export URLs list directly, with each group becoming a collection.
Is there a Toby alternative without an account?
Tabulary works fully without an account and imports Toby’s JSON export. Sign-in is only needed for optional backup to your own Google Drive.
Will I lose anything when I import?
Keep the original export. Tabulary shows a preview and reports skipped items; verify your imported collection before removing the original.
Which browsers does Tabulary support?
Chrome, Edge, Brave and Firefox 140 or later.
